It was an overcast spring morning when my Support Worker and I went on a photography walk up the Noosa Hill climb track. We took photos of the nature in the area. I enjoyed the walk very much while I was taking lots of pictures of our native flora and fauna. I also enjoyed smelling the fresh air and getting some exercise while doing it. Damian
I like to go to Coolum Communicators Toastmasters. I joined Toastmaster's in June. I enjoy going to the meetings because I like meeting people, one of whom is the International President of Toastmasters - Mike Storkey. The people who go to are all very friendly. It has taken me a long time to warm up to the idea of Public Speaking. I am nervous when it is my turn to speak, but with a lot of encouragement I have been able to stand in front of people and call the meeting to order. I read the Mission Statement with some help from the President of the club at the start of the meeting. I have given encouraging evaluations to two members in the club about their speeches. Before the meeting's I help to set up the room. I recently had the opportunity to be a tally counter for the contest night. Being a contest official was a very important role because my job was to count the judge's votes up and determine the winner for each contest. Our contestants could go on to present in front of the International Audience in America. My first role in Toastermaster's was the timer. Keeping to time is very important to ensure we all go home at a reasonable hour! I want to work toward gaining the courage to give my first speech and be the Toastmaster for the evening. The Toastmaster role is to chair the meeting and introduce all of the other speakers. They also provide the supper. I have mentors in the club who will help me to achieve these goals such as Maree and Marilyn. Here is a photo of me with my evaluator of the evening Award. Sean F.
I am an artist who has won prizes at the Rockhampton & Mt Morgan Agricultural Shows. I have completed the art work below and donated to Supports by Design pfor the new office. Now when anyone visits the office, they see my art work in the foyer. I like that idea. Carmel.
Nine of Rockhampton's Support by Design eleven service users attended the Beach Day out at Emu Park this year. Support by Design had a stall and handed out 150 gift bags and bottles of water to the visitors. The Jelly Bean competition proved to be very popular again this year. Our service user's visited the petting zoo, listened/danced to the three bands playing in the marque, accessed activities such as face painting, rock painting, tattoos, balloon animals, jumping castle and numerous give also were available on the day.
I went to Tanawah Farm with a lovely lady called Lauren. Lauren and I baked some biscuits to share with friends. After cooking, I went for a walk around the farm, to feed the pigs. I went to the hens house and collected 8 eggs and bought them back to the farm kitchen to be washed. I had a really good day.
Every Tuesday for the last few weeks I have been travelling to the Coolum Community Centre to learn acoustic guitar with Cardie. I have learnt how to play chords and read chord charts. I also learn Song Writing. I am writing a song called "Let's Jam". I am really enjoying taking up and learning the guitar again. I love the challenge of the guitar, and the song writing adds another dynamic. Cardie has been a wonderful teacher and I look forward to her lessons she gives me every week.

I like dancing. This photo was at a supper dinner dance that at times I attend with my friends. As you can see I am dancing with my friend who is wearing make up like a member of the band KISS. I like the band ABBA and the movie MUMMA MIA. I will sing the songs from the movie or the band when they are played on radio. Recently I went to the ABBA Gold Tribute Band concert at the Events Centre in Caloundra but that is a different story. Andrea
